Recommendation
SUPERVISOR JACOB
1. Direct the Chief Administrative Officer to establish the Dehesa Community Improvement Trust Fund.

2. Direct the Chief Administrative Officer to accept a donation of $15,000 from the Sycuan Band of Mission Indians and appropriate the funds into the Dehesa Community Improvement Trust Fund.

Fiscal Impact
If approved, this request will provide additional funding to be used for community improvement projects in the communities located in the Dehesa area.

BACKGROUND:
The Sycuan Band of Mission Indians has generously offered to spend $15,000 to fund community improvements in the Dehesa area. Tribal representatives have already begun the process of working with County Public Works staff and the Dehesa School Board to investigate ways to improve traffic safety near the Dehesa Elementary School. In an effort to demonstrate their commitment and move forward on implementing the improvements, the Sycuan Band of Mission Indians has offered to donate $15,000 in initial funding for community improvements.

The establishment of a permanent community improvement trust fund will provide a mechanism to allow future donations from Sycuan or other funding sources to be directed into one account for future community improvement projects. Organizing the funding in a single account will increase funding commitment certainty while minimizing delays to community improvement projects.

I urge you to support the establishment of the trust fund which will assist Dehesa area residents obtain important community improvements.

Respectfully submitted,

DIANNE JACOB
Supervisor, Second District
