RE: Pine Street Trail Construction
A trail near Pine Street in Ramona has historically been used by equestrian riders to access the Cleveland National Forest. Recent development projects have triggered the need to identify an alternative trail route. The Ramona Trails Association negotiated an agreement with a private property owner and secured a dedicated trail easement that provides the alternate route and ensures the enjoyment of this trail for future generations. Today's action will authorize the one time expenditure of $27,000 toward the construction of this trail along Pine Street.
CHAIRWOMAN DIANNE JACOB
Authorize the Chief Administrative Officer to award a contract to the Ramona Trails Association not to exceed $27,000 for the construction of a riding and hiking trail along Pine Street in Ramona.
Funds for this request are budgeted in the amount of $27,000 in the DPW District 2 Trails Fund.
A trail near Pine Street in Ramona has historically been used by equestrian riders to access the Cleveland National Forest. The Ramona Trails Association was concerned that nearby development projects might block access to the Cleveland National Forest, so they took the initiative to negotiate an agreement with a private property owner along Pine Street. As a result, the private property owner has voluntarily dedicated a trail easement.
The trail will be one mile long and provide the alternate route necessary for continued connection to the Cleveland National Forest. This is a perfect example of a public/private partnership. The Ramona Trails Association and the community are offering to donate $20,000 worth of equipment and labor. Also, the Ramona Trails Association will maintain the trail. Today's action will authorize the one time expenditure of $27,000 toward the construction of a trail along Pine Street in Ramona.
I urge your support.
