SUBJECT: Improving the Baseball Fields at Ramona's Well Field Park
SUMMARY:
Today's proposal continues the existing work at Well Field Park in the
community of Ramona. Four baseball infields will be graded; new home plates
and bases will replace worn-out ones; and unsafe wooden bleachers will
be replaced with new aluminum bleachers.
Recommendations:
SUPERVISOR DIANNE JACOB:
1. Allocate $33,056.25 to Ramona Pony Baseball to be used toward field
improvements on four baseball fields at Well Field Park in Ramona.
2. Authorize the Chief
Financial Officer to execute an agreement with Ramona Pony Baseball establishing
terms for receipt of the funds described above.
Fiscal Impact
The fiscal impact of the proposed recommendation is $33,056.25. The funding
source is FY 2001-2002 Community Projects for District 2. This action
will result in the addition of no staff years and no future costs.
BACKGROUND:
On May 22, 2001, the Board of Supervisors approved an allocation of $24,000
to Ramona Pony Baseball towards the purchase and installation of sod for
the Pop-Warner football field at Well Field Park in Ramona. In just two
months, the project was completed, thanks to the dedication and organization
of the members of Ramona Pony Baseball.
Today's proposal continues
the work at Well Field Park. Four baseball infields will be graded; new
home plates and bases will replace worn-out ones; and unsafe wooden bleachers
will be replaced with new aluminum bleachers. By reinvesting into our
communities, residents will be ableto enjoy increased safety and greatly
improved recreational facilities.
